그런데, 어느날부터인가 얘네들이 WWE(www.wwe.com)라는 이름으로 나오기 시작했습니다.
일각에서는 Entertainment를 강조하기 위해서 이름을 바꿨다는 얘기도 나왔고, 사실 최근에 들어 이런저런 이유로 Wrestling보다는 Entertainment를 강조한 것도 사실이지만 이름이 바뀐 이유는 조금 다릅니다.
(미국에서 흔히 벌어지는) 이름에 대한 소송때문입니다.
WWF라는 이름은 1960년대 초에 WWWF(World Wide Wrestling Federation)이름을 1979년에 WWF로 개명하면서 처음 사용되게 됩니다.
1961년에 스위스에서 World Wildlife Fund라는 이름으로 이미 설립되어 있었고, 지금도 이 단체는 존재합니다. 이름의 원어는 World Wide Fund for Nature으로 바뀌었지만, 약어는 여전히 WWF입니다.
2000년에 World Wide Fund for Nature는 World Wrestling Federation을 고소하였습니다.
그 6년 전인 1994년 영국 법원에서도 Titan Sports(WWE의 소유 회사, 설립자는 다름아닌 Vicent K. McMahon입니다)가 상표권을 침해했다는 결론이 난 적이 있었거든요.
2002년 5월, 갑자기 Titan Sports는 World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc.라는 이름을 World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc.,라 바꾸기로 결정합니다. 물론 약어인 WWF 역시 WWE로 갑자기 창씨개명됩니다.
지금은 바빠서 잘 보지 못하는데 예전에 레슬링 광팬이라서 무지 많이 보고 그랬거든요~~ 아쉬움점은 골드버그의 쓸쓸한 퇴장되겠죠~~ WWE운영진의 말을 잘 안들어서 그렇다고 하던데 ~~ 다시 보고 싶군요~~골드버그의 위력을 ㅋㅋ

나름 뭔가 잘나보이는 캐릭이었는데...
어디나 배우가 스케쥴을 잘 어기면 제작진이 좋아할 리가 없는 것 같습니다.
예전 wwf마크보다 wwe마크가 더 멋있는데요ㅋㅋㅋ
